It’s the newest in FM 90.9’s series of “Music to Use” holiday specials. “We've all had the experience of trying to find music on the radio to set a specific mood, but then having the intermittent talk, commercials, or other non-musical elements interrupt and destroy that mood,” said Jake Schumacher, WILL-FM program director. The idea of the “Music to Use” specials is to provide continuous “mood music” for a holiday celebration, he said. Previous specials have included
The Scariest Music of All Time! for Halloween and The Most Romantic Music of all

for previous Valentine’s Days.
Jazz can be intensely romantic music, perfectly suited for a romantic candlelight dinner, after-dinner dancing or cuddling, said Schumacher. “We'll be selecting pieces that possess beauty and emotional depth, such as the classic recording of “Body and Soul” by Coleman Hawkins, said Schumacher. The final playlist of the program is still being devised but other instrumentalists likely to appear might include Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Ben Webster, Stan Getz and Diana Kraal.
“The program will also explore one of the great wellsprings for jazz artists over the years, the American popular song repertoire,” said Schumacher. “We’ll include classic love ballads by such composers as Irving Berlin and Cole Porter interpreted by artists including Billie Holiday, Johnny Hartman, Dinah Washington and Nat “King” Cole.
