Caregiving Programs and Resources

Caregiver and friend Individuals and families now face major challenges caring for elder family members, balancing work, personal issues, and other life obligations.  WILL has engaged in a major effort to explore the issues facing caregivers, in partnership with service providers and community organizations.  We received a Governor's Award for Excellence from the Illinois Department on Aging for this work. We present here programs and resources to make a difference.
WILL-AM 580 aired Heart to Heart: Caring for the Dying
1 pm Saturday, November 28, 2002
The program raises questions about dying and explores some of the answers.
Program 1: Beyond Pain focuses on making death less painful, as a large percentage of Americans die today in severe and unnecessary pain.
Program II: Children Sometimes Die examines the kind of support that families need during this unbelievably difficult experience.
Program III: Respecting Diversity looks at how the assumptions behind "good end-of-life care" do not necessarily meet the needs of people who are not white and middle class.
