Upcoming By the People events:
By the People: America in the World
7 pm Tuesday, October 19, 2004 on WILL-TV
| WILL-TV received a $10,000 grant from the
PBS initiative By the People: America in the World
to examine how U.S. foreign policy affects
Champaign-Urbana, with a particular emphasis on the
international student population.
Funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundations
and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting/PBS, the
award allows WILL-TV to develop programming and events
to facilitate dialogue between the local community and
the international citizens who attend school or teach
and work in central Illinois.
"We also want to help people understand the
views of international students who receive a U.S.
education and return home," said WILL-TV's Tim
Hartin, who will work with producer Martha Diehl on the
project. "What attitudes do these international
students take back to their home country and how does
that contribute to a perception of the United States and
its foreign policy?" |
